Seeing as how Aquitaine-class SAGA ships are all the rage now, I would like to point out I named them for the main ship in Freespace 2. (In fact, I based most of the SAGA fighters designs off of that game, just as Tasnica’s Marines were “the Starcraft army” and the Scandian League were “the Red Alert Army” – though they had the Allies’ Light Tanks. And Dragon mecha.)
I know that the EU’s ships were stolen from Macross; the Gigamerton cannons were just reflex cannons (though they also became miniaturized in ways that series never did). Gaugals from Neo also took from Zeon designs from Gundam.

That’s kinda funny… I know we all had our own special RTS influences from back in the day. I always liked thinking of the Guardians as the Naboo faction from Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds – even though it hurts my soul to align myself so closely with something born out of the prequel trilogy, but the fact that they have advanced airpower units and their unique unit is a tech-shielded knight were just hitting way too close to the mark for me to ignore.
